What not to include in your resume:

1. Salary Requirements or past salaries:

Employer will often ask for your salary requirements, and you can address that when they do, but do not volunteer it on your resume; it will only be used to eliminate you from the pool of applicants.

2. Personal information that does not pertain to the job you are applying for:

For example, offering marital status, number of children, political positions, or religious affiliations may be used to eliminate you from consideration; only mention these items if they pertain to the job; for example, if you are applying for a job as a church business manager, you may wish to mention that you are a member of that denomination.

3. Exaggerations:

For example, if you once used PowerPoint, do not list PowerPoint proficiency on your resume; exaggerated statements may help you pass the first screening, but if the truth is revealed later in the process, you will be worse off than if you had been completely honest from the beginning.
